What to Pack for Temptation Cancun

12 December 2025

Temptation has a different dress code and a different energy to Desire. Here is what actually belongs in your suitcase.

A different suitcase to Desire

If you have read a packing guide for Desire Riviera Maya or Desire Pearl, put it aside. Temptation is a different beast. The dress code is topless-optional rather than clothing-optional, the evenings are louder, and the theme nights lean party rather than sensual. Your suitcase needs to reflect that.

Swimwear

Bring at least three swimsuits. You will go through them quickly between pool parties, the beach, and the hot tub. Bikinis are the standard, and topless sunbathing is common but never required. Full nudity is not permitted at Temptation, so you will always need bottoms at minimum.

For the pool parties, think bold. Bright colours, cut-outs, metallic finishes. This is not a subtle resort. If you only own classic black swimwear, it will work fine, but you may feel underdressed next to the neon and glitter crowd.

Theme night outfits

This is where most people either overpack or underpack. Temptation runs themed evenings most nights of the week, and guests genuinely dress up. Current themes in rotation include:

  • Western Rush - cowboy hats, denim, boots, fringe
  • Let's Get Wild - animal prints, safari looks
  • Party Angels - white everything, wings if you fancy them
  • Holographic Vibes - iridescent fabrics, space-age metallics
  • Retro Neon - 80s colours, leg warmers, headbands
  • Velvet Rouge - red and black, burlesque-inspired
  • Rockin' 50s - swing dresses, leather jackets, rockabilly

You do not need a full costume for each night. A themed accessory, a matching colour palette, or one statement piece is enough. A cowboy hat covers Western Rush. A red dress covers Velvet Rouge. Keep it simple and versatile.

Evening and party wear

Evenings at Temptation involve dinner, drinks, and dancing. Bring at least two going-out outfits beyond your theme night gear. For women, bodycon dresses, jumpsuits, or a nice top with shorts all work. For men, fitted shirts and chinos or smart shorts. The dress code is relaxed but people do make an effort after dark.

Comfortable shoes matter. You will dance. Heels look great but wedges or block heels survive the nightclub floor better. Trainers are fine at the pool parties but less appropriate at the evening restaurants.

Daytime essentials

  • Reef-safe sunscreen - this is Mexican law, not a suggestion. Non-reef-safe sunscreen is confiscated at cenotes and eco-parks, and the resort encourages biodegradable options
  • Cover-up or sarong - for walking between pool and restaurant
  • Sunglasses and a hat - the Cancun sun is relentless
  • Waterproof phone pouch - pool parties involve water cannons and foam
  • Reusable water bottle - hydration between margaritas

Practical bits

Mexico uses the same plug sockets as the United States and Canada (Type A and B, 120V), so if you are travelling from the UK or Europe you will need an adaptor. Bring one, because the resort shop charges a premium.

Pack a small daypack if you plan to leave the resort for excursions. Chichen Itza, cenotes, and Isla Mujeres are all popular day trips from the Hotel Zone.

What to leave at home

Formal wear. Nobody wears suits or cocktail gowns here. Excessive jewellery, because you will be in and out of pools all day. And expectations of quiet, because the music starts at noon and does not stop until 2 a.m.
