Desire Riviera Maya

152 rooms. Next door to Riviera Maya but distinctly different. Newer renovations. The Pearl Mansion VIP area with butler service. Slightly quieter pool scene. Shared access to some Riviera Maya facilities. The couple who has done Riviera Maya twice and wants the next level up gravitates here naturally.

Book this if: You have been to Riviera Maya before, you want VIP treatment, or you prefer a quieter atmosphere.

Temptation Cancun

430 rooms. Completely different energy. Topless-optional (not clothing-optional). Designer interiors by Karim Rashid. The legendary Sexy Pool with daily DJ sets. Foam parties. Bash nightclub. Seven restaurants. This is not a couples-only resort; singles and groups are welcome. The crowd skews younger and the energy is significantly higher.

Book this if: You want a party atmosphere, you are younger or young-at-heart, you prefer topless-optional over full clothing-optional, or you are coming with friends.

The practical differences

Location

Desire Riviera Maya and Pearl are 30 minutes south of Cancun airport in Puerto Morelos. Temptation is 20 minutes north in the Cancun hotel zone. All three are easy transfers.

Price

Desire properties cost more per night than Temptation. You are paying for the exclusivity, the smaller guest count, and the clothing-optional experience. Temptation offers better value per pound spent but the experience is fundamentally different.

Age and crowd

Desire: predominantly 35-60, almost exclusively couples. Temptation: 25-45, mix of couples and friend groups. Both have exceptions and neither enforces an age limit beyond 21+.

Dress code and atmosphere

Desire is elegant casual. Linen, flowing fabrics, understated luxury. Temptation is resort trendy. Swimwear by day, club wear by night. Neither requires formal attire at any point.

Can you visit both Desire properties in one trip?

Yes. Guests at either Desire resort can visit the other for dinner or drinks. Many couples book a week at Riviera Maya and pop over to Pearl for a change of scenery, or vice versa. The resorts are a short walk apart.

Our recommendation for first-timers

If you are completely new to this world, Temptation is the safest starting point. It is familiar enough to feel like a normal resort with an exciting edge. If you already know you want the full experience, go straight to Desire Riviera Maya. You will not regret it.
